Book Clubs

We run two book clubs at Francis Baily: Chatterbooks for Year 3 and 4 and Reader’s Paradise for Year 5 and 6. Both clubs run at Thursday lunchtimes, alternate weeks. Regular attendance is expected.

The club meetings are varied and provide the children with an opportunity to share good reads and motivate their peers. They are introduced to and encouraged to try new genres and and authors. They also benefit from an improved understanding of how to get the best from the library for example how to use Junior librarian.net to find the books they want.

Francis Baily is a member of the Federation of Children’s Book Groups  (FCBG).   Each year, our book groups and select classes take part in voting for the FCBG Children’s Book Award (previously known as the Red House Children’s Book Award). This is the only book award that can be voted for by the children themselves.

Both clubs are currently full and there is a waiting list for Chatterbooks.
